The Best Bourbon Old Fashioned Recipe

Yields1 Serving

While pleasantly strong, a classic Old Fashioned is a super-likable cocktail, with just enough sweetness to amp up bourbon’s warm vanilla-caramel notes. For a slightly richer version, swap out the simple syrup for one made with raw sugar; a flavored simple syrup would also work well here—I’d recommend orange or ginger (you can also slice a thin piece of ginger to use as a garnish, in addition to an orange twist).

A bottle of bourbon sits on a table next to a bottle of whiskey, ready for an easy to follow recipe with ingredients list.

 1.25 oz Bulleit bourbon
 1 tsp Simple syrup*
 1 dash Bitters
 1 dash Orange bitters
 lemon and orange twists

Combine ingredients in mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with one lemon and one orange twist.
